Straight Up Films is a fully integrated film, television, and commercial production company, focused on creating high level content for a global audience. Founded in 2008 by Marisa Polvino and Kate Cohen, Straight Up’s recent releases are Transcendence, distributed by Warner Brothers in April 2014 and starring Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Morgan Freeman, and Rebecca Hall; Jane Got A Gun, released in 2016, starring Natalie Portman, Ewan McGregor, and Joel Edgerton, and released by The Weinstein Company; and Shot: The Psycho-Spiritual Mantra of Rock, produced alongside VICE Media and distributed by Magnolia Pictures.

Some highlights of their current development slate include Man’s Search for Meaning, to be adapted from Viktor Frankl’s best-selling memoir; The Wrong Place, written and directed by premier Cuban director Alejandro Brugues; Legacy of Secrecy, to be produced with Leonardo Di Caprio’s Appian Way; The Elephant Man, to be directed by David Dobkin, and produced with Mike Medavoy; Variant 13, based on the best-selling science fiction novel, Thirteen, by Richard K. Morgan; and Thief, based on the popular video game series from Square Enix, produced with Roy Lee. On the television side, Straight Up is developing Alex with Louis Leterrier, based on a three part French book series by Pierre Lemaitre and the sports docu-series, The Warrior’s Code, with legendary NFL Hall of Famer, Jim Brown.
